1.40pm Ludlow – Robin The Raven 2pts Win (15/8)
Won or placed in 6 of his 8 starts under rules, Robin The Raven is a consistent sort who’s got some decent form. Most notably behind Mr One More and then when ahead of Take To Heart who’s won twice subsequently. He was running a decent race when falling in what is a good looking handicap last time out and in what doesn’t look a very strong race, he shouldn’t have a problem giving weight away.
2.00pm Kempton – Jer’s Girl 3pts Win (5/4)
A good quality Listed race for a Monday afternoon where ordinarily I’d say La Bague Au Roi would be going close stepping up in trip, however her three defeats have all come in graded races so I just feel she’s just slightly below the top level. Even though this is a Listed contest today, she meets a graded standard of mare in Jer’s Girl. Travelling well in the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March when coming down 3 out I think she would have played her part in the finish. A brilliant second to Apple’s Jade last time, this dual Grade 1 winner should have too much for her rivals today if seeing out this extra distance.
2.45pm Ludlow – Dentley De Mee 2pts Win (11/4)
4 year olds have life tough when taking on their elders, but this is a weak race and Dentley De Mee looks as though he should be capable of winning races of this nature. A dual victor under rules already he shaped as though this step up in trip would really suit when getting up to lead close home over 2m½f last time. Looking back through some of his form, specifically his Newton Abbot third, an opening handicap mark of 114 certainly doesn’t look too harsh.
