12.35pm Meydan – Jordan Sport 0.5pt Each Way (25/1)
It’s Super Saturday at Meydan and it really is a great afternoon of racing over in Dubai, albeit a bit tricky to solve! Getting a good early position on the dirt is very important and I think Jordan Sport represents some good value at 25/1. He relishes being on the front end and from stall 4 if he breaks well he’ll able to seal pole position but I am taking a chance that he takes to the surface. He may not be as talented as a few of these but he’s won a handicap at the Carnival already this year and with the race likely to pan out in his favour I think he can sneak a place.
1.20pm Sandown – Quothquan 2pts Win (3/1)
Quothquan has started life in this sphere quite promisingly with a pair of thirds and a second from three starts and comes into a handicap here off a mark of just 116, when compared to his flat rating of 79 he appears well-treated. He won over 1m6f on heavy ground on the flat so will have no problem with today’s conditions and his best run over hurdles so far has come over this course and distance when behind Sussex Ranger (who has franked the form with a Grade 1 second since) and ahead of subsequent winners Night Of Glory and Esprit De Somoza. Quothquan was a tad disappointing at Fontwell last time but he was still ahead of Oxford Blu who runs in the Fred Winter on Wednesday, a good conditional in Harry Reed takes off 7lbs and I think he’ll prove much better than this mark.
3.50pm Wolverhampton – Tribal Warrior 1pt Win (3/1)
Having had the four starts at Kempton so far it’ll be new scenery for the son of New Approach who seems to be very comfortable over 7f, his one try over further resulted in him being too keen at the front end and fading tamely inside the final furlong. Other than that he’s been running well and his February third is working out very well with the fourth and fifth both winning in good style since and he beat a promising sort on his latest start. Making his handicap debut today I think he has scope off a mark of 76.
