2.35pm Limerick – Alletrix 3pts Win (11/4)

Alletrix has steadily improved this season and boasts some really good form, a second to Laurina in January looks high class considering how impressive that rival has been since. She comfortably won a big field handicap afterwards and the second from that contest, Barra, has franked that form in no uncertain terms when finishing an excellent third in the Coral Cup. By Flemensfirth, Alletrix shouldn’t have a problem staying this trip and with the best form in the book, can take her first Graded success with Alighting being the one to give her most to think about.

3.40pm Southwell – Donjuan Triumphant 2pts Win (11/4)

He has to concede weight all round but I don’t see that being a problem for Donjuan Triumphant who won the rescheduled Ayr Gold Cup, which took place at Haydock, carrying top weight. His slow ground turf form is very strong which should stand him in good stead for taking to this unique surface on his Fibresand debut. He’s 14lbs lower on the all-weather than on grass so he’s extremely well-handicapped on that basis and with this trainer and jockey combining with a 29% strike rate so far this season, I can only see Donjuan Triumphant running a big race on a track where it suits to be close to the pace, ideal for the selection.

3.50pm Haydock – Absolutely Dylan 1.5pts Win (5/1)

Sue Smith has an impressive strike rate with handicap debutants in the past year (27%) and she saddles Absolutely Dylan who fits the bill here. Off the mark at the third time of asking over obstacles and the further he went, the further clear he came of his rivals so this extra couple of furlongs will be no bother. An opening mark of 115 is not unfair by any stretch given his second to Ballinslea Bridge and he’ll give a good account under Danny Cook.

4.00pm Chepstow – Wizards Bridge 1.5pts Win (4/1)

Wizards Bridge has been keeping better company than this in recent starts but has been given a break since his disappointing run on Boxing Day. He returns today dropped in grade to a class 4 and is on his last winning mark, he’s won under these conditions over this trip before so that won’t be an issue and the yard is very much on a high after winning the Gold Cup on Friday.
