2.40pm Redcar – Pretty Baby (6/4 general) – Win Double advised below
Close second behind the subsequent Flying Childers third on debut before confirming that promise by bolting up on her next start at Chelmsford. Looks like she could be very smart and can go on to much better things for the remainder of the season. Always worth noting when William Haggas sends one to Redcar, he operates at a 45% strike rate at the venue in the past 5 years.
4.00pm Lingfield – Zaajer 1pt Win (8/1)
A competitive little race but Zaajer looks plenty big enough in the betting for his handicap debut. He showed some good form as a two year old, not far behind Breath Caught on debut who won a handicap at Newmarket recently off a mark of 84 plus other multiple winners have come out of that contest and Zaajer’s subsequent runs. He appears to be let into this handicap quite lightly here off a mark of 76 and with a jockey full of confidence on board in the shape of Dane O’Neill (5 winners from his last 8 rides), he looks sure to go well from stall 2.
4.40pm Redcar – Cristal Spirit (7/4 general) – 2pt Win Double with Pretty Baby @ 5.5/1
The trainers record at this track has already been outlined but William Haggas can easily be going home with a double. Cristal Spirit showed much more promise on his handicap debut following a gelding operation last time when beaten a neck over today’s trip having been disappointing in 7f maidens last year. He’s due to go up 3lbs in the future and can take advantage of being ahead of the handicapper today.
7.10pm Musselburgh – Northwest Frontier 2pts Win (5/2)
On a career low mark here and looks well-treated on the pick of last years form, particularly when just a short head behind Uber Cool at Thirsk. Northwest Frontier made a promising return to action this campaign when 6th in a higher grade and drops to a class 5 for the first time since his maiden days. As there doesn’t appear to be a lot of pace on here his prominent racing style could just get him an easy lead, which is very advantageous at this track.
7.50pm Chelmsford – Gold Filigree 2pts Win (7/2)
Some nice types in here and it may well prove to be a race to follow, but Gold Filigree gets plenty of weight from all her rivals here and can take advantage. She’s already beaten Puds and is on 5lbs better terms today and was only second behind a well-treated sort last time who has won again since off 6lbs higher.
8.50pm Chelmsford – Yabass 2pts Win (11/4)
Yabass absolutely hacked up by 13-lengths last time out and the further he went the better he looked, a further couple of furlongs ought to be bring about even more improvement from him today. Archie Watson is becoming somewhat of an all-weather master trainer and he even thought Yabass good enough to compete in a Listed race on the turf last season. He boasts decent form and it may well be that the handicapper has let him off lightly on his handicap debut off a mark of 87.
