2.30pm Exeter – Vision Des Flos 2pts Win (10/3)
Djingle makes his debut here for Paul Nicholls after winning a Listed hurdle in France, but his price looks short enough and I believe the value lies with Vision Des Flos. He won the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at the Punchestown Festival back in April beating the likes of Hollowgraphic and Early Doors who have franked the form of that race. He was subsequently bought for £270,000 and joined Colin Tizzard, for which he ran third in the Grade 2 Persian War on his stable debut. Disappointing at Cheltenham after that over 2m5f he was sent off the 1/4 favourite for a race at Hereford, but could only manage 2nd. He almost jumped the last hurdle too well that day and stumbled on landing which cost him loads of momentum and subsequently the race, on paper it doesn’t create much appeal but it’s clear that he would have finished much closer without that mistake. It’s also worth noting that the winner that day has since finished 2nd twice, including in a Grade 2 and is now rated 145. This drop back in trip won’t inconvenience him and he looks overpriced for a yard who are just starting to hit a bit of form.
2.40pm Punchestown – Hardline 2pts Win (5/2)
Gordon Elliott’s Hardline has to concede weight all round here, but I don’t think that will be enough to stop him taking this Listed prize. He gained two easy victories on heavy ground before finishing third in a pair of Grade 1’s, despite being beaten an average of twenty and a half lengths in those contests, they were by no means poor runs. He takes a drop in class here which I can really see him taking advantage of and the 5/2 available seems too good to ignore.
