Thursday 22nd March

2.10pm Wolverhampton – Newstead Abbey 2pts Win (7/2)

A drop back to 5f showed Newstead Abbey in a good light last time out, only going down a short distance to an in-form rival who has since won again. He also drops down into a class 6 today for the first time since his most recent win back in December, from 2lbs lower than his last handicap victory which is a big positive. He’s a course winner and having only ran the once at 5f is unexposed at the distance which is a surprise given he’s an 8-year-old, well drawn in 4 I can see him going close under Jason Hart.

4.55pm Wolverhampton – Oregon Gift 2pts Win (7/2)

Has started well for his new yard with a win and a third at Lingfield with the 2 miles possibly just stretching him that bit too far last time, a return to 1m4f will suit here with SDS booked. I’m struggling to see many other pace angles in here and he may well get an easy time of it up the front and with his trainer in flying form (3 wins from last 7 runners) I’m expecting a big run.
