2.40pm Newcastle – Dichato 1pt Win (3/1)
Dichato is an interesting contender over this sort of trip. Following his debut he just didn’t look fast enough to compete at 6f/7f and seemed a little bit one paced before running on strongly. In each of his last 3 races he has been closest at the finish and stepping up markedly in distance today to an extended mile and a half I would like to think he’ll be much more in his comfort zone.
3.10pm Newcastle – Desert Ruler 1pt Win (4/1)
After making a disappointing debut over hurdles last month, Desert Ruler returns to the flat where I think he’s been found a good opportunity by trainer Jedd O’Keeffe to get his head back in front. On his first all-weather start at Kempton back in October, he would have won if he hadn’t of bumped into the smart and progressive Ply. Then at that venue a month later he looked to be travelling well into the race before being caught short of room and losing his chance to pounce, he was better than the bare result that day and with this a drop in class I’ll be surprised if this consistent horse doesn’t again produce a good performance.
7.45pm Chelmsford – Royal Birth 2pts Win (7/2)
A consistent, high class sprinter on the all-weather, Royal Birth had the form of his latest 2nd boosted with the 1st and 5th both winning subsequently. 2 wins and 2 places from 5 course and distance starts shows his liking for the track. With Stuart Williams’ horses running well at present I can’t see this horse running a bad race and he should take plenty of beating.
