Tuesday 9th January

2.35pm Doncaster – Ruby Yeats 1.5pts Each Way (6/1)

She has been off the track a while, but Ruby Yeats won on her seasonal reappearance in 2016 and she should be ready for this today. Her second to Verdana Blue in a Novice Hurdle around this time last year makes this mark of 120 look on the lenient side given that she was also 9 lengths clear of winner of a handicap hurdle off 120. Never going a yard in a Grade 2 at Newbury when last seen, that run can be forgiven. Harry Whittington is in tremendous form with 4 winners from his last 8 runners and with Ruby Yeats clearly well-handicapped, she should go well.

2.45pm Taunton – Fidux 2pts Win (9/4)

A talented Juvenile last season, this is a drop down in class for Fidux following a good 4th in a Listed Handicap at Sandown last month. He was in the process of pushing the high class Maria’s Benefit close when staying on over 2 miles on his penultimate start and coming down at the last. This step up in distance should suit based on that evidence and with Kevin Dowling taking off 7lbs, Fidux can make good use of this lower class of race.
